Happy New Year 2012!!

Welcome to my new blog.  I have chosen to switch to this new format as I believe it will be more "user friendly" for both those reading and for me! 

I want to write about both my travels and learning of my family history because so often the two go hand-in-hand for me.  Whether I am traveling back to the "homeland" in Ireland to do more research on other family lines or try to find further information on the Dorans, or I am taking a trip to a genealogy conference to learn more about researching. 

My other interest is photography, so I will be sharing photos of my travels as well.

My grandfather, Joe Doran, and Tommy Powers who owned the land that the Dorans previously lived on in the 1800's. This photo was taken in June 2009, both have since passed away. May they rest in peace.
